Quality standards

Digital quality control with INSTA 800 and NS 6600

CleanFlow has built-in support for the Nordic cleaning standards: INSTA 800 inspections with AQL sampling, quality profiles per room type, and NS 6600 compliance reports for cleaning in health and care services.

What is INSTA 800?

INSTA 800 (NS-INSTA 800) is the joint Nordic standard for agreeing on and assessing cleaning quality. Instead of describing how often to clean, the standard defines the quality level a room must meet once cleaning is done. Objectively and verifiably.

Five quality levels

Each room is assigned a quality level from 1 to 5. The level defines how many impurities are accepted across the object groups: furniture, walls, floors and ceilings.

Statistical sampling (AQL)

Inspections use statistical sampling: a representative selection of rooms is inspected, and the result determines whether the entire delivery is approved.

A shared language between client and provider

The standard gives the client and the cleaning provider an objective, shared definition of quality, in contracts, in follow-up, and when there is disagreement.

The quality levels

Levels are set per room or room type in CleanFlow and follow the room from proposal to inspection.

Levels 1–2: low-demand areas such as storage and technical rooms

Levels 3–4: offices, classrooms and common areas

Level 5: areas with special cleanliness requirements

How CleanFlow supports INSTA 800

The entire control loop is digital, from quality profile to approved inspection report.

Quality profiles per room type

Set the INSTA 800 level per room type or individual room, directly on the floor plan. Profiles are reused across buildings.

Inspections with AQL sampling

CleanFlow draws a statistically correct sample of rooms, guides the inspector through the object groups, and calculates pass/fail automatically.

Inspection reports

Detailed reports with findings, photos and per-room results, ready to share with your client.

Self-check

Cleaners quality-assure their own work with structured checklists between the formal inspections.

Quality trends

Track quality development over time per building, department and room type.

Inspections on mobile

Run inspections on a phone or tablet, even offline. Results sync automatically.

NS 6600

NS 6600 for cleaning in health and care services

NS 6600 is the Norwegian standard for cleaning management systems in health and care services. It builds on NS-INSTA 800-1 and is structured like ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, with requirements for organisation, planning, execution, control and improvement, including cleanliness levels, frequencies and corrective actions.

Hygiene control with ATP

Document ATP measurements with RLU limits per risk profile. Critical, medium and low profiles govern sample counts and frequency per room.

Compliance levels A–D

Tag risk profiles with an NS 6600 level (A/B/C/D) and get compliance reports for formal hygiene requirements.

NS 6600 report in one click

Export the compliance report straight from the hygiene module, ready for audits and inspections.

Trends and heatmaps

See hygiene status per room and building over time, with heatmaps that reveal repeat offenders.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between INSTA 800 and NS 6600?

INSTA 800 defines and measures cleaning quality in all types of buildings. NS 6600 is a Norwegian management standard for cleaning in health and care services that builds on INSTA 800-1, adding requirements for cleanliness levels, frequency, equipment, execution and corrective actions. CleanFlow supports both.

How is an INSTA 800 inspection performed in CleanFlow?

You choose the building and quality profile, CleanFlow draws an AQL sample of rooms, and the inspector records findings per object group on a phone or tablet. The result is calculated automatically and compiled into a shareable report.

Can I use INSTA 800 levels in proposals and contracts?

Yes. Quality levels are set per room type as early as the survey and proposal phase, and carry through into operations, so contract requirements and inspections stay connected.

Does NS 6600 require certification?

Organisations can be certified against NS 6600, but the standard is also used as a framework without formal certification. CleanFlow provides the documentation you need either way: measurements, reports and traceability.

Is INSTA 800 used outside the Nordics?

Yes, the standard is receiving growing international attention, and CleanFlow is available in English and Swedish in addition to Norwegian.
